Photo Restoration Work
Its
hard to believe that this image was first manipulated almost
100 years ago.

This
family portrait was first manipulated in 1905 and then again
in 2003.
In the original 1902 photo, the woman is pregnant.
At the age of 3, her daughter was added to the left side of
the family photo.
I extended the image to make an 8x10 print and removed
a large post from behind the family.
Due
to water damage, the surface of this image was very warped
which preventing a high resolution scan. I was able to photograph
the image using a digital camera to capture an image that
could be restored.
The
final 12" by 14" print was framed with the help
of a local framing shop.

This
is a 16 by 20 inch portrait of a clients grandmother,
was drawn in 1923 using charcoal and oil-based type "crayons."
The
fiberboard composite the image was drawn on was disintegrating
due to
water damage and pieces were breaking off at every touch.
The
scanning services of an architectural blueprinting firm were
needed.
We were able to lay the image flat, face up and use a high
resolution
"topside" scanner while the brittle drawing remained
still and safe.
After
this restoration was finished and printed, it was framed with
dark walnut
frame with light gold gilding by Eklectic Art & Framing
in Columbus, Ohio.
